Expected outcome of the measurements to be done
We will be able to know the microstructure and particle size of the sample and correlate the change in Hc with microstructure after annealing and change in the synthesis route.
Details of the Samples to be used
We have synthesized Co35Cr5Fe10Ni30Al20 High Entropy Alloy (HEA) through two different routes powder metallurgy (HEA1) and melting (HEA2). Mixture of fcc and bcc phase with minor σ-phase has formed for the HEA1. However, single bcc phase has formed for HEA2. The synthesized HEAs were further annealed at 700 ̊C and 950 ̊C to investigate the phase transformation and thermal stability. Phase identity was maintained for the 700 ̊C and 950 ̊C annealed HEA1 and HEA2. The value of saturation magnetization (Ms) and coercivity (Hc) was found to be 55 emu/g & 15 Oe and 60 emu/g & 19 Oe for HEA1 and HEA 2 respectively. The value of Ms as well as Hc has drastically increased for HEA1 after annealing. But the value of Ms was found similar in case of HEA2 and Hc was increased. To correlate the microstructure and particle size with change in Hc TEM characterization is required.
